How's the World Treating You?
recorded by the Louvin Brothers who are really really really talented.
but that i don't listen to much for it makes me rather blue. sigh.
written by Boudleaux Bryant and Chet Atkins
and made popular lately by James Taylor and Alison Krauss
beauty all the way around...and such sadness
and totally captivating...
For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There's no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow that lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. 2 Corinthians 7:10
Many think the word repent means "to get your act together" or to "get religion" or "fly straight"; as if we could. Repentance requires taking in a whole new point of view; looking at it God's way. God simply asks us to turn. This is the way we accept His gift. When we do, certain outcomes are promised. If we don't, or we "turn back", alternate outcomes are promised.

Invitation
Must have's for cold and flu season
Lemons and Limes (nothing can survive the citric acid)
Ginger root
Raw Honey (local honey is best)
Use the above to make a hot water/tea and drink it about 3 times per day when you are sick.
Triple Leaf Cold and Flu Time Tea - Chinese herb blend tea. I have actually watered this one down and given it to my daughter before and it helped her too.
Yin Chiao - Chinese Cold and Flu Herb. - This one kind of taste earthy...like dirt. It comes in capsules now which is handy. But it is really worth it if you are feeling especially bad. It really helps kick in your immune system and beat it.
Oscilliococcinum - Cold and Flu Homeopathic available at any natural food store or online.
A Good Multi-vitamin - I recommend looking into vitamins without artifical ingredients or a lot of cellulose. That is a filler (and insolluble plant fiber) and doesn't really allow the full vitamin effects to come through by the time it is digested. The more natural varieties cost a bit more but when you need them...it's really a nice thing to have! I recently looking at he ingredients for children's multivitamins and decided to stick with ingredients I can pronounce and know what they are. And no artificial sweetners and flavors.
Plenty of 100% juice and water
and for the kids - Hyland's homeopathic makes a few cold and flu products that work great. I have used the Cold 'n' Cough 4 kids and the complete cold and flu care 4 kids, several times this past season to get my daughter through without too much suffering. The only thing you need beyond that is some Tylenol to help with aches and fevers.
NaturoBio makes a homeopathic liquid formula for cold and flu that is safe and effective for infanta also. It takes like sugar water and is safe for babies 4 months and older. I used it for our family and it was a life saver to help the couple times the baby was sick.
Hyland's also makes adult formulas that work well.
Boiron makes a ColdCalm homeopathic pill that has been tested by people who believe they work, sort of believe they work, and are true skeptics. All have had positive effects. Yay!
And when your throat is very sore, Zand makes a line of herbal lozenges that are great.
Stay well and take care of yourselves!

Adele and the Broken Hearted
The first was to a very unfortunate accident that took a life way too early but he will be remembered forever in spirit. I was 19 and he was the single greatest catalyst for me to try and live each moment to the fullest, to be proud of who you are and to show it. An angel in my life. An angel for everyone. David Anthony Serge.
The other to some way other than God's way.
Lost and tragic, torn apart and struggling to find words to even speak.
And we have an angel that deserves more. I give her all of it. All that I can.
Thankfully God found me sitting there after many years of ignoring Him. He found me crying and begging for help. And he answered my prayers.
I am strong, active, healthy, and I have all the love inside of my heart for my daughter, ready to do what it takes. As far as I know I am not the only one out there left in this kind of situation or one like it.
I cannot understand this type of treatment of a family.
It is not for me to know.
It is for me to forgive, to carry on, and to be the best me I can be.
Ready, set, GO!
I hear her commentary about how she really does not care too much for her previous partner any longer and I laugh. I have certainly been down that road. Ultimately as I listen to her words and hear what she has to share in her more intimate moments, I feel a kinship. A kinship to an abusive relationship and the haggard emotions that surround them. I cannot even listen to this album some days because I still feel heartbroken.
When does that end God?
I look for scripture to help the broken hearted.
Psalm 34:18 Te Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are broken.
Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
Ah the Psalms. Prose and song. AMEN!
So where do we learn to be honest true and committed in relationship.
Our parents? My parents are divorced. Ok...
Two things come to mind.
1 Corinthians 13 says about as much as one can say. If you love then these things apply, no exceptions. If these things do not apply, then you do not love. I'll look more carefully next time.
and...
"Love your neighbor as yourself" - The Good Ol' Golden Rule.
And so what becomes of the broken hearted?
Allow God in more. Fill the emptiness with God's love, His presence, and do what makes you shine! God will not let you down. Get devoted to using that broken heart to do good, to share your gifts, to move you on to the next phase of your love. And honor the place inside you that is devoted to the love you feel. If it is real and true than it is a beautiful gift be it present, past, or future.
Adele talks a little about her story here and in Rolling Stone
If you haven't heard the album, please take a listen it has so much spark and life. Loaded with talent.
And as my story unfolds...an equally strong, confident and genuinely loving human emerges.
A photo essay of Adele's 2009 tour. Behind the scenes.
Adorable children dancing and singing to Adele. My little one likes Rumor Has it. LOL. From the mouths of babes.

Aol Sessions Interview with Adele
Crazy for you Live on BBC Radio. This is the first Adele song I ever heard. Been a huge fan since. This is a brilliant version.
Risk and the Ultimate Reward
All great rewards come with a little risk. If the ultimate reward is important to you, no risk is too great.
~Ravi Pimplaskar
Someone came to Jesus with this question: "Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?"
"Why ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. But to answer your question - if you want to receive eternal life, keep the commandments."
"Which ones?" the man asked.
And Jesus replied: "You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself."
"I've obeyed all these commandments," the young man replied. "What else must I do?"
Jesus told him, "If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, for he had many possessions.
Matthew 19:16-22

Tracey Chapman - Unsung Psalm
There would be psalms sung by a choir,
I would have a white robe a halo newly acquired.
I'd be at peace and I'd have no desire,
If I'd lived right.
There would be cherubs with tiny harps arrows and bows,
I'd have a halo and a flowing white robe.
I'd be enfolded by a celestial light,
If I'd lived right.
But I'm feeling hot and bothered under the collar,
I feel the sweat breaking out on my brow.
I feel the heat and I know it's the passion,
The love I can't disavow.
If this is a dream wake me up now,
If this is a movie let's edit these scenes out.
It would be a PG instead of an X-rated life,
If I'd lived right.
Some would call me a cheat call me a liar,
Say that I've been defeated by the basest desires.
Yes I have strayed and succumbed to my vices,
But I tried to live right.
But I have no regrets no guilts in my heart,
I only feel sadness for any pain that I've caused.
I guess I wouldn't bother to worry at all,
If I'd lived right.
Do you live by the book do you play by the rules?
Do you care what is thought by others about you?
If this day is all that is promised to you.
Do you live for the future the present the past?
If there is one thing I know I know I will die,
If anyone cares some stranger may critique my life.
I may be revered or defamed and decried,
But I tried to live right.
There would be psalms sung by a choir,
I would have a white robe a halo newly acquired.
I'd be at peace and I'd have no desire,
If I'd lived right.
